A strangle is where you sell the two calls out of the money or near the money. For example a stock is trading at 37.50, you buy both the 40 call and the 37.50 call. For both of these you will receive around 1.50 to 2 dollars in premium. You need to have capital in reserve for this strategy however. As soon as the price hits the strike you buy the stock, turning any position into a covered call and you still keep the premium. Your naked position is now covered by you buying the stock and any disaster from you having a naked position is avoided.
